When my brother moved to Germany, all his/our friends threw a "German" influenced going away party for him. Patty made all the costumes. Tim, my brother, was even roasted on a spit! HAHAHAHA!
Patty was a sonic adventurer! Back in 2003 she played and helped me develop “Instruments in Trees,” a semi-improvisational music piece for strings and tree materials. Although she was a trained violinist, she eagerly played prepared cello, pinecones, bark, twigs, and moss for this piece. This photo is from a rehearsal in my studio in San Francisco. You can listen to an excerpt from the piece here: https://soundcloud.com/ieallwaysnorth/fusang-excerpt
This photo was taken in 2013. I planned my first trip alone with a friend to come and visit my aunt Patty and uncle Peter. I just love how happy she looks. There are so many memories that Patty gave me that I will never forget. The time she took me to try sushi for the first time, and sushi DESSERT. Which was amazing. The time that she handed me down this oracle book called the I-CHING which I still use to this day and has opened me up change. What I will remember most of all is her spirit. Her smile. Her attitude. Her fire. She was such an incredible human being and she taught me the value of being courageous. Of having faith. Of being strong, being kind. Being confident, being generous. Her memories wil . . .
Chen-Wei's last trip to Taiwan she met an aunt who was given up for adoption.
We miss you, Chen-Wei! You always amazed me with your positivity, creativity, ingenuity and spirit... on set, at work, in life, and beyond. <3
I'm just going thru old pics again to remember when friends could all hang out and have fun....This picture is of two of my most important friends I have ever had! I have a tight tight close circle for those that know me, and these are two of the best.Patty unfortunately passed recently - and she and I were close no matter how insane and crazy I was. She was my voice of reasoning, and decor! hahaa!Curtis! Anyone that has seen Star Wars wants to have a friend, guide, philosopher, and someone to BBQ and garden with, and also party with like we are all gunna die! YODA! (I met him WAY before current Covid times). Curtis/YODA, to this very day, in our old age, we are family. This was a cute picture, that's al . . .
I didn't want to live in Reno much longer after I moved there.... But I did have a few friends come visit - among them Peter and Patty! Always it was a relief having my friends come out to nowhere and visit.
